6-8 lbs baking apples (any variety is fine)
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon whiskey (Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey is sweet so it works great here)
1 teaspoon cinnamon
a pinch of sea salt
Peel and cut up the apples. It doesn’t need to be super small pieces, make 6-8 pieces per apple. Combine the apples with all the other ingredients in a crock pot. Just dump it all in. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours (overnight). Once it’s ready the apples with be super soft so you can mash them up with a wooden spoon easily, if you want a more traditional applesauce consistency.
